OKLAHOMA CITY – Remington Park’s $21,500 allowance feature for 2-year-olds on Thursday night showcased many talented youngsters with SR Superstar coming on with a big rally to win the 330-yard event.
Owned by Jose Espinoza of Dallas and trained by Carlos Saldivar, SR Superstar rolled from more than a length off the lead to get up in the final yards under jockey G.R. Carter. The Oklahoma-bred colt never quit with his rally, winning by a neck while catching First Prize Paris in late stretch.
SR Superstar crossed the finish in :17.207 over a fast track.
Away as the 8-5 wagering favorite, SR Superstar paid $5.20 to win, $4.40 to place and $2.80 to show. First Prize Paris paid $4.40 to place and $3.60 to show. Dance Across Thewire was third and paid $6.20 to show.
The second win from four career starts for SR Superstar was worth $13,120, to push his overall earnings to $52,687. The colt by Tres Seis from the Strawfly Special mare Splash Dot Dash has never finished off the board through four career starts and is perfect in two attempts at Remington Park.
The Pick Six numbers on Thursday were 1 or 2-8-3 or 6-4-5-5. There were no perfect tickets. Consolation payoffs of $9.40 went to ticket-holders with four of six correct. The Pick Six Carryover to Friday night at Remington Park is $7,703.
A 10-race program is on tap for Friday night at Remington Park with the first event slated to begin at 6:25 p.m.
