PANTHER PURR ROARS TO FAST VICTORY

OKLAHOMA CITY – Panther Purr made her first 2008 start an impressive one on Friday night, zipping home 1-1/2 lengths ahead of the nearest rival in a 250-yard allowance race at Remington Park.

Owned by Carlos Lozano of San Antonio and trained by Peter Brown, Panther Purr cruised to victory with ease under jockey Larry Payne. The 3-year-old filly covered the short race distance in :13.196, earning an American Quarter Horse Association speed index of 105 for the effort.

Away from the starting gate as the even-money favorite, Panther Purr paid $4 to win, $4 to place and $3.20 to show. Sizzling Lizzie was second and paid $5.40 to place and $4.40 to show. Stolia Del Rey was third and paid $3.60 to show.

A Texas-bred daughter of Panther Mountain from the Toast to Dash mare Toast to Gypsy, Panther Purr won her third career race in her 11th attempt. The winner’s check of $11,520 boosted her overall bankroll to $75,334. She has yet to finish off the board in three Remington Park starts with two wins and one third-place showing.

The Pick Six numbers Friday night were 1 or 3-5 or 9-7-1-3-1.  Consolation payoffs of $16.20 went to tickets with four of six correct. The Pick Six carryover to Saturday night is $8,233.

The $103,000 American Paint Classic is the featured event on the Saturday night program at Remington Park. The first of 10 races gets underway at 6:25 p.m.
