FINALISTS DETERMINED FOR A PAIR OF CHALLENGE STAKES RACES

OKLAHOMA CITY – The first four races on Sunday at Remington Park were trials to qualify the final fields for two American Quarter Horse Association Challenge Stakes races.

There were two trials held to flush out the finalists for each, The Red Cell Distance Challenge and the Fort Dodge Starter Allowance Challenge, both to be run on May 11.

In the 870-yard Red Cell Distance Challenge trials, High On Cat was the top qualifier under jockey Stormy Smith, handling the turn measure in :45.75 over a fast track. Owned by A.J. Renner of Sidney, Mont. and trained by Russell Harris, High On Cat won his fourth career race from 15 attempts and stayed perfect at Remington Park winning his second local turn event from as many tries.

The 4-year-old High On Cat is a New Mexico-bred by Dome from the On a High mare French Dame. The other seven to join High On Cat in the Red Cell Distance Challenge field, with their trial times, are: Kels Jeter Lane, :46.207; A Unforgottenlook, :46.398; BCR Lets Get Busy, :46.45; Tee Zevi, :46.514; GHF Kook Kotton, :46.521; Principal Feature, :46.916 and First Down Vike, :47.001.

Business Tycoon posted the top time over the pair of trials for the 350-yard Fort Dodge Starter Allowance Challenge, winning the first of two trials in :17.593.

Owned by Dennis Eckerman of Maple Grove, N.M. and trained by Carl Clevenger, Business Tycoon was ridden by Kenny Muntz. The 4-year-old Kansas-bred by Make It Anywhere from the Streakin Six mare Finished Business won his sixth race from 21 attempts. The trial score was the third Remington Park win for Business Tycoon.

Joining Business Tycoon in the field of 10 for the Fort Dodge Starter Challenge, with their trial times, will be: Take That, :17.676; Chisel The Check, :17.862; Five Thirteen, :17.885; Shesa Royal Coin, :17.888; GP Braveheart, :18.037; Big Bad Mike, :18.059; JLS The Peace Maker, :18.153, Sheza Strate, :18.241 and Strate Bye, :18.266.

The Pick Six numbers on Sunday were 4-6-8 or 10-8-4-8. The consolation payoff to tickets with four of six correct was $104. The Pick Six Carryover to Thursday night at Remington Park is $9,767.

The 2008 American Quarter Horse Season resumes on Thursday with a nine-race program at 6:25 p.m.
