HOT MEMORY USES QUICK START TO OUTLAST RIVALS

OKLAHOMA CITY – Hot Memory flew away from the starting gate in Thursday’s $21,500 optional allowance feature at Remington Park, rolling to an easy 1-3/4 lengths win.

Owned by L.V. Ray & Connie Barnes of Jones, Okla. and trained by Mark Barnes, Hot Memory won his second consecutive race under jockey Randy Wilson. He was on the lead from the first jump and was able to control the 400-yard event throughout. The 3-year-old New Mexico-bred handled the measure in :19.97 over a fast track.

Feature Jess Rockin was second with the beaten 2-1 wagering favorite, Heza Smooth Gambler, finishing third.

Dismissed at 7-1 odds, Hot Memory paid $16.40 to win, $6.60 to place and $3.60 to show. Feature Jess Rockin paid $4.20 to place and 3.60 to show. Heza Smooth Gambler paid $2.40 to show.

The win was the third from nine career starts for Hot Memory, a gelded son of Corona Caliente from the Leaving Memories mare Memory Crest. The win was worth $12,120, pushing his overall bankroll to $38,458.

Thursday’s Pick Six numbers were 6-1 or 7-10-3-9-5. Tickets with four of six correct received consolation payoffs of $280. The Pick Six Carryover to Friday night is $15,667.

A 10-race card is on tap Friday night at Remington Park with the final eight races consisting of trials for the $1,000,000 Heritage Place Futurity. The top five qualifiers, by time, in the 350-yard race will graduate to the June 1 final along with five others to be determined through trials to be run on Saturday.

The first race Friday is 6:25 p.m.
