Oklahoma-breds will have their evening to shine with the 20th renewal of the Oklahoma Classics on Friday, Oct. 19. The eight divisional races carry combined purses of over $1,000,000. The top event of the evening is the $175,000Classics Cup for 3-year-olds and older at 1-1/16 miles.
Also on the Classics night agenda: $145,000 Distaff at 1 mile-70yds; $130,000 Distaff Sprint at six furlongs; $130,000 Distaff Turf at 7-1/2 furlongs; $130,000 Turf at one mile; $130,000 Sprint at six furlongs; $90,000 Juvenile at six furlongs and the $90,000 Lassie at six furlongs. All Oklahoma Classics purse amounts are estimated.
The Classics celebration will begin at 5pm as once again Remington Park has collaborated with Red Earth Inc. to present an evening of Native American experiences. The events during the evening will include dancing, art, teepee tours, storytelling and more. The Remington Park pony horses will be painted to represent tribal heritage as they usher the Thoroughbreds to the starting gate of the races during the night.
The first race on Oklahoma Classics Night, Friday, Oct. 19 is at 6:30pm. The Remington Park Casino remains open until 3am after the races.
