OPENING NIGHT AT REMINGTON PARK FEATURES A DOZEN RACES

OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season begins this Friday night at Remington Park. The Opening Night racing program is set with 12 races including a solid allowance race featuring a champion from last year.
Black Rosalita, the 2013 Champion Older Female at Remington Park, is in Friday’s 11th race, a $31,000 allowance for older females at 300 yards. The race serves as a prep event for the Decketta Stakes later this month. Owned by Dr. Francis L. Glowacki 97 Trust of Queenstown, Md. and trained by Luz Chavira, Black Rosalita won the Decketta Stakes last year. She also triumphed at the end of the season in the Junos Request Stakes to gain her local divisional title.
A 5-year-old mare bred in Maryland by the owner, Black Rosalita has won nine of 30 career starts with three victories at Remington Park. Overall the daughter of Sweet First Down from the Tolltac mare Poneta has earned $171,817. Black Rosalita drew post nine in a field of 10 and will be ridden by James Flores on Friday night.
The Opening Night card will also feature seven trials for the Grade 1, $134,000 Oklahoma Paint/Appaloosa Futurity, all for 2-year-olds at 300 yards. The fastest 10 from the trials will move on to the final event on March 22.
Overall, 108 horses have entered the 12-race Opening Night program that begins at 6pm. The Opening Weekend continues at 6pm on Saturday night and concludes with afternoon racing Sunday at 1:30pm.
The American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season runs from March 7 and continues thru June 1 and features a stakes schedule worth nearly $5 million in purse money. The richest event of the season is the $1,000,000 Heritage Place Futurity on May 31.
Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity, to be run for the 73rd time on March 22, 2014.
