OKLAHOMA CITY – Opening Night of the 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season featured trials for the Grade 1, $134,000 Oklahoma Paint/Appaloosa Futurity. Big Red Kadillac posted the fastest 300-yard time of the seven trials, crossing the finish in :15.619 seconds over a fast track.

Owned by Wade Helton of Pampa, Texas and trained by Alfredo Gomez, Big Red Kadillac was ridden to victory by Jesse Levario. An Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old gelding by Country Quick Dash from the Special Task (qh) mare Sinn Bug Special (qh), Big Red Kadillac won his career debut by a head as he rallied to catch Cashmere Queen in the final yards in the second trial.

The top producing trial of the night was the fourth with five runners advancing from the heat to the Oklahoma Paint/Appaloosa Futurity on March 22. The remainder of the qualifying field, with individual times and trial race number, include: Cashmere Queen, :15.640 (trial 2); Shadow Be Quick, :15.701 (trial 5); Ugly Kid Joe, :15.715 (trial 7); Panther Quick Flash, :15.733 (trial 4); Mai Dashing Hero, :15.761 (trial 4); Southern Snow, :15.800 (trial 4); Miss Movin On, :15.813 (trial 4); Texas Spook, :15.813 (trial 4) and SF Steele The One, :15.832 (trial 5).

Opening Weekend continues Saturday with 15 trials to determine the field for the Grade 2, $370,000 Oklahoma Futurity. Due to the longer program, Remington Park racing will begin Saturday at 5pm.

Sunday afternoon racing features the Grade 2, $50,000 Eastex Handicap with first post time at 1:30pm. All times are central.

Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity, to be run for the 73rd time on March 22, 2014.
