OKLAHOMA CITY – Sunday’s $26,100 allowance/optional $40,000-claiming feature came down to the wire with seven horses within two lengths of each other, all with a chance for victory. Coronas At Sunset had the late momentum and the head-bob to catch the win in a good finish over All So Valiant.

Owned and bred by JNL Horse Farm of Ada, Okla., Coronas At Sunset is trained by Christian Rubalcava and was ridden to victory by Paul Nieto. The 5-year-old gelding handled 350 yards in :17.439 seconds over a fast track and into a strong 20mph headwind.

All So Valiant was second, a nose better than third-place finisher Daltsguninforsuccess who led late in the race but could not hold on to the front.

Away at wagering odds of 9-1, Coronas At Sunset paid $21.80 to win, $12.40 to place and $6 to show. All So Valiant returned $10.40 to place and $4.60 to show. Daltsguninforsuccess paid $3.60 to show. Kuhl Wave was the beaten 3-1 wagering favorite, running sixth.

An Oklahoma-bred, Coronas At Sunset is by Corona For Me from the Sunset Six mare Sunset Bouquet. He has won four career races from 16 starts, with all victories at Remington Park. The first-place check of $14,536 moves the lifetime earnings for Coronas At Sunset to $79,276.

The 2014 Remington Park American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season continues Thursday thru Sunday, May 8-11. Friday and Saturday night racing features important trials for the $1,000,000 Heritage Futurity on May 31. The field for the first million-dollar futurity of the year will be determined over 20 trial heats, split between the two evenings.

Mothers’ Day Sunday racing will feature the stakes finals for the American Quarter Horse Association Challenge events held at Remington Park.

Racing begins at 6pm nightly except for Sunday afternoon action at 1:30pm.
