CALDWELL SEEKS 7th REMINGTON PARK LEADING OWNER TITLE

For Immediate Release
Friday, August 14, 2015

OKLAHOMA CITY – Danny Caldwell, 49, of Poteau, Okla., has enjoyed tremendous success as an owner at Remington Park since going all-in with his venture in the late 2000s. The 2015 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season begins tonight, with Caldwell’s runners attempting to get the owner his seventh local title.

A former high school coach and educator, Caldwell won his first Thoroughbred Season leading owner title in 2008. He has gone on to take the last five seasons (2010-2014) consecutively, even setting a new record for most owner wins in a season last year with 39.

If Caldwell can win a sixth consecutive leading owner title at Remington Park in 2015, he would also complete a year-long hat trick of titles for a second consecutive year. Starting 2015 at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., Caldwell won the leading owner championship at that storied venue with 18 wins. He then moved his horses to Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa, winning 50 races and another championship.

Caldwell won the Oaklawn and Prairie Meadows titles in 2014, before his operation set the Remington Park record for wins by an owner. His horses are trained, nearly exclusively, in Oklahoma City by Federico Villafranco.

Remington Park will open the 2015 Thoroughbred Season on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14 & 15. The regular post time throughout the season is 7pm (central). The normal weekly schedule of racing will take place Wednesday thru Saturday, beginning on Aug. 19.

Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby on Sunday, Sept. 27.

Tracked by over 85,000 fans on Facebook and 6,500 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
