OKLAHOMA CITY – The runners from the barn of trainer Karl Broberg continue to pile up wins in the opening stages of the 2015 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season. Thursday night, Broberg horses won three more races to open his lead in the trainer standings.

The $39,295 allowance feature over firm turf at one mile was the biggest win of the three on the night for Broberg as Cruachan won by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:37.49. Owned by May Valley Farms of Lamar, Colo. and ridden by C.J. McMahon, Cruachan rallied to catch the pace-setting Cy Seven in the stretch and then hold off a bid by Air Assault who settled for second.

Cruachan was 9-5 in the wagering and paid $5.80 to win, $3.20 to place and $2.60 to show. Air Assault paid $11 to place and $5 to show. Hawaakom was third, returning $2.80 to show.

A 5-year-old Kentucky-bred gelding by War Chant from the Mocito Fogoso (Chi) mare La Madame (Chi) won his sixth career race from 21 attempts, making $21,678 in the process. He has now compiled total earnings of $89,972.

Broberg also won with Treacherous ($8.40 to win) in the third race and B’s Honey ($17.40) in the seventh race. The training hat trick has Broberg at eight wins for the season, three ahead of J.R. Caldwell who is second.

Remington Park Thoroughbred racing continues Friday and Saturday, Aug. 28 & 29. The $50,000 Bob Barry Memorial Stakes is the feature race of the week on Friday evening. Saturday night, Remington Park becomes ‘Remington Bark’ as dogs are welcomed for the first time ever in a charitable event for many central Oklahoma canine rescue operations. Remington Park’s first post time is at 7pm-Central.
