OKLAHOMA CITY – The opening weekend of the 2016 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park begins March 11. Wednesday, the initial training races were held to prepare young horses for their real debuts once the season arrives.

The training, or schooling, races at Remington Park are contested at 250 yards. A dozen races were conducted Wednesday under bright sunny skies with temperatures at about 70 degrees. Im Tellin Ya had the fastest race of the day with a time of :13.70 into a headwind of 16 mph.

Im Tellin Ya impressed while under a hand-ride throughout from jockey Jimmy Brooks in the 12th and final race of the session. Owned by Reliance Ranches of Edmond, Okla. and trained by Eddie Willis, Im Tellin Ya is an Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old colt by One Famous Eagle from the Corona Cartel mare Teller N Telleragain.

A set of 13 training races is on tap for Thursday at Remington Park, beginning at 11am. Another warm day is forecast with temperatures expected near 80 degrees for a high and strong southerly (headwinds) prevalent.

The Remington Park racing year will begin Friday, March 11 and continue thru Saturday, June 4. Post times for the first three race dates will be 6pm on March 11, 5pm on March 12 and 1:30pm on March 13.

Open daily for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. The 75th running of the oldest futurity in Quarter Horse racing takes place on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
