OKLAHOMA CITY – Remington Park held the initial Thursday program of the 2016 American Quarter Horse Season on St. Patrick’s Day. BV Jesse James celebrated the holiday by winning the $35,400 allowance feature.

Owned by Oscar Padilla of Kingfisher, Okla. and trained by Oscar Nunez, BV Jesse James was ridden by Agustin Silva. The 6-year-old horse took advantage of a sharp start and just held off a gain by The Big Time to win by a head, handling 300 yards in :15.365 seconds over a fast track. Jesse Jr First Down was another half-length behind in third place.

At 3-1 in the wagering, BV Jesse James paid $8.40 to win, $4.40 to place and $3 to show. The Big Time paid $7 to place and $4.40 to show. Jesse Jr First Down returned $4.20 to show. First Sweet Midnite was the beaten 9-5 wagering favorite, finishing eighth in the field of 10.

BV Jesse James is an Oklahoma-bred son of Ivory James from the Willie Wanta Dash mare Chicks Wanta Dash. The win was his fifth from 12 career starts with all five of the wins taking place at Remington Park. He made another $21,080 to run his lifetime earnings to $94,534.

The Remington Park racing week continues Friday thru Sunday, March 18-20. The feature race is the $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes at 550 yards on Saturday, March 19. The first race nightly is at 6pm, except for Sunday afternoon racing at 1:30pm. All Times are Central.
