OKLAHOMA CITY – A quick start proved to be the difference for Soul Wagon in Friday’s $26,600 allowance feature for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park. The 3-year-old was away quickly in the 330-yard event and then held off a rally by Send Me Good Candy to win by a neck.

Owned by Valeriano Racing Stables of Odessa, Texas and trained by Toby Keeton, Soul Wagon was ridden by Joe Badilla, Jr. Send Me Good Candy, the 2-1 wagering favorite, won a photo-finish for the place over Dianas Tres Seis, getting the second position by a nose. Soul Wagon covered the ground over a fast track in :16.568 seconds.

Away at 5-1 odds, Soul Wagon paid $12.60 to win, $6.80 to place and $4.20 to show. Send Me Good Candy paid $2.40 to place and $2.80 to show. Dianas Tres Seis paid $2.80 to show.

The win was the second from five career starts for Soul Wagon, a gelded son of PYC Paint Your Wagon from the Mr Jess Perry mare Little Kool Barbie. He made $15,140 for the score to up his career earnings to $20,477.

The Remington Park racing week continues Saturday and Sunday, March 19 & 20. The feature race Saturday night is the $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes at 550 yards with the first race on the card at 6pm. Sunday afternoon racing will begin at 1:30pm. All Times are Central.
