TELLER BAJA TOPS FIRST NIGHT QUALIFIERS FOR REMINGTON PARK FUTURITY

OKLAHOMA CITY – The $958,000 Remington Park Futurity has half its field set after the first night of qualifying trials on Friday night. Teller Baja rolled to a huge win in the first of a dozen trials and her 330-yard time stood up as no one could top it over the next 11 heats.

Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Juan Medina of Zapata, Texas, Teller Baja is trained by Rick Robinson and was ridden by Agustin Silva. Her trial effort was spectacular as she flew to a 1-1/4 length win over B Double U in :16.597 seconds over a fast track. Despite being a well-beaten second, B Double U also made the final group from Friday night.

The Friday five moving to the rich Remington Park Futurity on April 23, restricted to Oklahoma-breds, with their time and trial:
1.    Teller Baja, :16.597 (trial 1)
2.    As And Js, :16.804 (trial 9)
3.    B Double U, :16.806 (trial 1)
4.    V Power, :16.846 (trial 3)
5.    Eye De Man, :16.873 (trial 5)

Teller Baja is a 2-year-old filly by Teller Cartel from the Tres Seis mare Baja Jazz. The trial win is her second of the season as she broke her maiden status in her career debut on March 18. The $8,838 winner’s share of the trials boosts the two-race earnings for Teller Baja to $20,578.

Another 12 trials will be conducted on Saturday night with the fastest five Oklahoma-breds covering 330 yards moving on to join the five from Friday night in the Remington Park Futurity. The first race Saturday is at 6pm-Central.

Sunday afternoon racing starts at 1:30pm with trials for the $337,000 Remington Park Derby featured for Oklahoma-bred 3-year-olds.
