OKLAHOMA CITY - Hotwiredotcom was the fastest qualifier to the Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Horse Futurity and he ran the fastest in the $117,400 final to cover the 300-yard distance in a time of 15.642 seconds over a fast track.

The winning gelding is a two-year-old son of CRM Livewire, out of the Willie Wanta Dash mare Iwilliewantarunner. He earned $45,712 for his owner and breeder, Shirley Wheeler of Boynton, Okla. Trained by Guillermo Valdivia, Hotwiredotcom was ridden by Larry Payne.

Hotwiredotcom had to battle for the lead but finally gained the advantage just past the midway point of the race, putting Expressions N Snow away, winning by a neck. Im The Captain Now was a close third, just a head behind the runner-up.

Hotwiredotcom was sent off as the betting favorite at 2-1 odds and $6.60 to win, $4.60 to place and $2.80 to show. Expressions N Snow paid $7 to place and $4.80 to show. Im The Captain Now finished third and paid $3.20 to show.

A gelding, Hotwiredotcom is undefeated thru his two starts. The winner’s share in the futurity rolls his young career earnings to $49,150. His victory is the second in the futurity for Wheeler and the first in the race for Valdivia. Payne has now ridden to victory in the Oklahoma Paint/Appaloosa Futurity a total of five times.
