OKLAHOMA CITY – In celebration of National Dog Day 2017, Remington Park once again transforms to “Remington Bark” on Saturday, Aug. 26. The night will combine Thoroughbred horse racing, with dog festivities and racing exhibitions for many speedy canines.

A total of 94 horses entered the nine-race card for the second night of the season, an average field size of 10.4 per race on Saturday. Horse racing gets started at 7pm with the Remington “Bark” function underway at 6pm on the Plaza with the first of many exhibition dog racing contests on the track at 6:15pm.

Remington Bark honors “Man’s Best Friend” and helps raise awareness and funds for many dog-related charities and dog rescue operations in central Oklahoma.

Remington Bark allows guests wanting to bring their dogs to the event, access to the Plaza where the activities are staged. All dogs must be on a leash and on their best behavior. Open to all dogs, the first 100 dogs to arrive, starting at 6pm, will receive special ‘Wag Bags’ filled with dog goodies. There will be only one (1) ‘Wag Bag’ per dog, while supplies last.

Among the Remington Bark activities will be Costume Contests and exhibition Dog Races. The dog races will feature three size classes in order to make things as competitive and fair as possible: Small, Medium and Large

After Saturday night’s program, Remington Park will move to a regular weekly racing schedule of Wednesday thru Saturday with the first horse race at 7pm. All times are Central. The Remington Park Thoroughbred Season will run from Aug. 25 thru Dec. 17 for a total of 67 dates.
