OKLAHOMA CITY – Trainer Karl Broberg and jockey Colby Hernandez teamed up for five races on Friday night at Remington Park. They nearly swept their opportunities, winning four of the five events.

The success began immediately as the first three races were won by Broberg and Hernandez. Entebbe ($3.40 to win) won the opening race Friday, a $10,000-level claiming event at one mile, for owner Jerry Wheeler of Beaumont, Texas. Races two and three were won for End Zone Athletics of Mansfield, Texas as Drago’s Pearl ($8) won the second, a $20,000-level claiming race, and Unbridled Venture ($5.60) took the third, a $5,000-level claiming event. Races two and three were both at 6-1/2 furlongs.

The final two races on the night presented the next winning possibilities for Broberg and Hernandez. They won the eighth race with Tapindeed ($3.40) also for End Zone Athletics, scoring a $34,000 allowance sprint at five furlongs. The clean sweep came up short as Bandolera’s Gold didn’t start well in race nine, finishing last of 11.

The four wins for Broberg moved him into second-place in the trainer standings with 17 wins, 12 behind leader Steve Asmussen. The four victories for Hernandez give him 16 for the season and places him in fourth-place of the jockey standings, 10 behind leader Richard Eramia.

The three wins for ownership group End Zone Athletics moves them into fourth-place of the owner standings with eight wins, six behind leader Danny Caldwell of Poteau, Okla.
