OKLAHOMA CITY – Ramon Vazquez is beginning to pull away from his competition in the Remington Park jockey standings. Vazquez piled up five wins from his eight mounts on Wednesday, giving him 60 wins for the season.

Vazquez, a native of Puerto Rico, celebrated his 1,000th win in the United States in October at Remington Park. He is attempting to capture his fifth consecutive rider title in Oklahoma City. Richard Eramia is currently the closest competition for Vazquez with 49 victories this season.

The Vazquez quintuple was underway from the outset as he won the first two races on Wednesday with Be A Factor ($3 to win) in the opener and Mom’s Money ($8.60) in race two. Phantom Menace ($2.60) kept the wins coming in race four, leading to another trip to the winner’s circle in race five with Itsallaboutyou ($5.60).

High Fashion Diva ($2.60) in race six became the fifth and final winner for Vazquez on Wednesday. Vazquez is winning races at a 23% rate with his in the money percentage at 55% through the first 47 race dates of the Remington Park season.

The Remington Park Thoroughbred Season continues Thursday thru Saturday, Nov. 16-18, with the first race nightly at 7pm. After taking Sunday, Nov. 19 off, Remington Park will continue with special holiday week racing on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 20 & 21, with programs starting at 3pm. All times are Central.
