A native of Uruguay, Eramia began riding in the United States in 2005. The 38-year-old won his 2,000th race on this continent aboard Conquest Hiosilver ($7.60 to win) for owners Black Hawk Stable of Elk City, Okla. Trained by Kenny Nolen, Conquest Hiosilver won his second consecutive race at Remington Park. Eramia was up for both wins and was gracious in reaching his milestone.
“It’s been 12 years working hard and getting a lot of support from every racetrack where I’ve been. I want to give thanks to everyone; owners, grooms, trainers, hot walkers, gallop boys and all racetrack people, especially for my family too for their support. Thanks to God who gave me all of this. I’ve had a lot of support for all of my career, from the beginning in 1995. All I can say is thanks, and enjoy.”
Eramia raced in his home country of Uruguay while also making trips to race in Argentina and Brazil, prior to moving to the United States.
Eramia won his first two races Monday with Sweet Apple ($15.60) in the opener and Whiskey Tree ($3.60) in the sixth race. The riding triple gives Eramia 55 wins for the Remington Park season. He is in second-place in the jockey standings behind four-time defending local champ Ramon Vazquez who has 65 wins.
The Remington Park Thoroughbred Season continues with another special program on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Remington Park will offer a special 20-cent Pick 5 wager starting in race one, underway at 3pm Central.
