OKLAHOMA CITY – A $43,350 allowance event for Oklahoma-bred fillies and mares at 6-1/2 furlongs was the feature race on Wednesday at Remington Park. Socks used a sharp start to put herself in contention from the beginning, pulling away to win by 5-1/4 lengths.

Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Kelly Thiesing of Alva, Okla., Socks is trained by Kenny Nolen and was ridden by Luis Quinonez. The 3-year-old filly had a much better start Wednesday than she did in her attempt against similar rivals on Nov. 16. In that race, Socks didn’t come away from the starting gate cleanly and then rushed up to gain better position. The move didn’t leave Socks much for the stretch run and she settled for a distant second-place effort.

Wednesday night, Socks was away cleanly and easily had the lead early in the backstretch run. She was never seriously threatened as the field made the top of the stretch, pulling away with energy left. Socks crossed the finish in 1:18.15 over the fast track. Toccet’s Diva rallied wide from near the back of the back to gain second while Bernardina was third, 7-1/2 lengths behind the winner.

The even-money betting favorite, Socks paid $4 to win, $2.60 to place and $2.20 to show. Toccet’s Diva paid $15.20 to place and $10.40 to show. Bernardina paid $5.80 to show.

The win was the second from eight career starts for Socks, a daughter of Maclean’s Music from the Yes It’s True mare Bianco. The winner’s check of $24,718 moved the total earnings for Socks to $85,579.

The 2017 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season continues Thursday thru Saturday, Dec. 7-9. The first race nightly is at 7pm. Remington Park will hold special race programs on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 11 & 12, with a first race at 3pm. All times are Central.

Tracked by over 133,000 fans on Facebook and more than 9,500 Twitter followers, Remington Park has provided over $178 Million to the State of Oklahoma general education fund since the opening of the casino in 2005.
