OKIE DIVA RALLIES FROM NEXT TO LAST TO WIN USEEIT STAKES AT REMINGTON PARK

OKLAHOMA CITY – Okie Diva swept from eighth to first to win the one-mile $50,000 Useeit Stakes for Oklahoma-bred three-year-old fillies by 1-1/2 lengths on Sunday at Remington Park.

The daughter of Chitoz from the Prospector’s Music mare Dana Okie, concluded her Oklahoma City racing season with three consecutive wins at Remington Park. The homebred of the Richter Family Trust of Perkins, Okla. picked up $30,000 in earnings for her first-place finish, she now has five wins in 10 starts to push her lifetime earnings to $222,906.

Trained by Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame Trainer Donnie K. Von Hemel, the 7/5 favorite was ridden by Luis Quinonez, who was inducted into the Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame at Remington Park just two days prior. Okie Diva paid $4.60, to win, $2.60 to place and $2.40 to show.

Honolulu chased throughout and paid $4.60 to place and $3.40 to show. Natalie’s Mischief, trained by recently inducted Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame Trainer Joe Offolter checked in third at to pay $7.60 to show.

Okie Diva handled the mile in 1:39.17 over a fast track. It was the second win in the Useeit for all of the connections. The Richter Family Trust won the 2014 race with Okie Smokey, while Von Hemel trained Lady Jensen to the win in 2012, ridden by Quinonez.

The Useeit Stakes is named after the early 1900s racing mare owned by Oklahomans Al and Rosa Hoots who went on to produce 1924 Kentucky Derby winner Black Gold.
