Remington Park distributes more than $170,000 to charities

Through a variety of events such as Extreme Racing, Remington Bark and the Riders Cup golf tournament, Remington Park and its patrons and staff raised $170,750 for the track’s partner charities in 2017.

“Being a part of the community is important to everyone at Remington Park,” said Scott Wells, president and general manager of Remington Park. “We have some incredible charity partners and we’re thrilled to support their good work.”

Remington Park has built charitable giving into several major annual events, including Extreme Racing Day, Kentucky Derby Weekend, Oklahoma Derby Week and Remington Bark. Those events draw attention and provide exposure for several local and statewide charities.

Stacey Weddington, director of community impact at Autism Oklahoma, said the ability to partner with Remington Park helps her organization provide services across the state.

“Autism Oklahoma provides more than 80 programs and groups across the state that bring hope, opportunities and empowerment to individuals with autism and their families,” Weddington said. “Our partnership with Remington Park helps to support those programs, and gives us the opportunity to touch more families, increase understanding and acceptance of autism, educate communities on our important work and reach new donors and partners.”

Remington Park’s other partner charities are the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund; Woven Life (formerly Easter Seals of Oklahoma); the American Heart Association of Oklahoma; Anna’s House Foundation; Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma; CASA of Oklahoma County, Inc.; the Oklahoma Thoroughbred Retirement Program; Positive Tomorrows; Freedom School Oklahoma City, Inc.; Langston University Foundation; Warriors for Freedom Foundation; the YWCA; FACT UNIT of the Oklahoma City Police Department; the Millwood Foundation; and Dress for Success.
