Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill owns the Grade 2, Decketta Stakes of late. She won it for the third year in a row on Saturday night at Remington Park with Curls Happy Wagon taking down the title for the second consecutive year.

Charette-Hill also won with Jess Paint Your Lips in 2018. This year’s Decketta was jockey Jorge Torres’ third straight win in the race. Owners of Curls Happy Wagon, Michael Pohl and Martin Stacy of Irving, Texas, were winners two years in a row with this 5-year-old mare and Pohl was sole owner of Jess Paint Your Lips. No trainer had ever won this race three years in a row until Charette-Hill set the new standard.

Curls Happy Wagon jumped on top early in the 350-yard race and won the $54,720 event, earning $33,622 for the win. This daughter of PYC Paint Your Wagon, out of the Spit Curl Jess mare Eye A Spit Curl Girl, improved her lifetime record to 14 starts, seven wins, two seconds and one third for $238,474 in earnings. She won by three-quarters of a length over First N Sassy, who was a nose ahead of third-place finisher Diamond And A Half. Lynnder 16, the betting favorite at lukewarm odds of 7-2, ran fifth.

Curls Happy Wagon went off at generous odds of 4-1 paying $10.40 to win, $5 to place and $3.80 show. She was bred in Oklahoma by the owners. Her running time for 350 yards was :17.259 on the fast track, good enough for a 98 speed index.

The Decketta Stakes is named after the 1964 All American Futurity winner who was born in Blanchard, Okla. and campaigned by her breeder, owner and trainer W.W. Wilson. Decketta was a successful broodmare for over 20 years after her racing career was completed.
