OKLAHOMA CITY – The Grade 1, $68,500 Speedhorse Graham Derby for 3-year-old Paints and Appaloosas was won Saturday night at Remington Park by Expressions N Snow. The Paint had to rally to the lead and then hold off the heavily favored Bully Pulpit to secure victory.

Owned by Sharon Hafliger and R.J. Ziegler of Nickerson, Kan., Expression N Snow is trained by Amanda Tongay and was ridden by James Flores. The filly fought to gain the lead throughout the majority of the 350 yards, gaining the advantage just before the finish as Bully Pulpit rallied to her outside. She defeated the favorite by a neck in :17.696 over the fast track.

Expressions N Snow did not have the best start, that accolade belonged to Dashin Turnpike who had an immediate lead from the gate, before drifting out and moving in front of rivals. Dashin Turnpike came near the winner which concerned Flores.

“She finished strong and got us the win,” Flores said. “There was a lot of traffic going on there but I just tried to stay in my lane and hustle her as best I could, and get the win. That horse (Bully Pulpit) was running big and we were lucky to hold him off.”

Expressions N Snow was at 5-2 odds in the wagering and paid $7.20 to win, $3 to place and $3.20 to show. Bully Pulpit was the beaten even-money favorite, paying $2.60 to place and $2.20 to show. DCM Furyofthestorm was three-quarters of a length behind the victor in third, paying $5.60 to show.

A winner of six of her last seven races, accounting for all of her career victories, Expressions N Snow is an Oklahoma-bred Paint filly by SM Country Snowman from the SC Chiseled In Stone (qh) mare Expressions In Stone (qh). Bred by Hafliger, Expressions N Snow made $26,030 for her derby, moving her career total to $103,792.

The American Quarter Horse Season continues Sunday, March 25 with the first race at 1:30pm-Central.
