HH GAILFORCE PUTS CATEGORY FIVE HURRICANE WINDS ON HER OPPONENTS TO WIN GRADE 2 DECKETTA STAKES
Like an historic hurricane blasting with category five winds, HH Gailforce blew down the stretch of the Grade 2, $50,720 Decketta Stakes and came up a winner on Saturday night at Remington Park.
Under two-time defending American Quarter Horse Association Champion jockey James Flores, the 4-year-old mare by Freighttrain B, out of the First Prize Perry mare Open My Prize, broke on top from the gate. She was never headed in the 350-yard race for older fillies and mares, just nosing out the 2-1 betting favorite Macs Lady M at the wire. Finishing third was Diamond and a Half (3-1), another neck back.
Flores has begun a little slow this meet as he broke a bone in his arm prior to the start of the 2021 racing season. He has three wins this meet and is tied for 10th in the standings. He rode this mare to victory for trainer Joel Cantu and owner Egoizzta Partnership of Roma, Texas. The mare was bred in Louisiana by Harvey Hayes.
At 4-1 odds, HH Gailforce paid $10.40, $5.20 and $3.60 to win, place and show. She earned $29,784 from the purse and improved her running line to 15 starts, five wins, one second and two thirds for $276,531. Running time for the winner was :17.785 over the fast track, earning a speed index of 83. She was a $12,000 purchase at the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeder Association sale in 2018.
The Decketta Stakes is named after the 1964 All American Futurity winner who was born in Blanchard, Okla. and campaigned by her breeder, owner and trainer W.W. Wilson. Decketta was a successful broodmare for over 20 years after her racing career was completed.
Live racing continues Sunday, March 21 with first post time of 6pm-Central.
