TOP QUALIFIER REVENANT MOON IS MORNING-LINE FAVORITE FOR OKLAHOMA FUTURITY AT REMINGTON PARK

The Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity will renew for the 80th time on Saturday, March 20 at Remington Park. Revenant Moon put up the top qualifying time in trials for the 300-yard race on March 8 and has been tabbed as the morning-line favorite for the final.

Revenant Moon won the eighth of 14 trials, scoring by two lengths over Shy Kisser who also made the final. A 2-year-old filly by A Revenant from the FDD Dynasty mare Sochi Moon, Revenant Moon is the morning-line favorite at 5-2 odds. Owned by the Ropesville, Texas partnership of Trey Odom, Scott Bryant and Norman Allen, Revenant Moon is trained by Trey Wood and will keep the riding services of Jose Alvarez who handled her big trial run.

Hock It To You, the second fastest qualifier in trials, is also second in the morning-line odds at 4-1. The colt won the ninth trial for the futurity by 2-1/4 lengths under jockey Francisco Calderon, who keeps the mount. Ruben Soto trains for leading owner Heavy Hitter Stables of Pecos, Texas. Their three wins on the season top the owner standings going into the third weekend of action.

Calderon also qualified Apolitical Jeanius on trials night. He won the Oklahoma Futurity in 2015 on Tee Chic.

Apolitical Jeanius, trained by Monty Arrossa, will have the services of three-time defending Remington Park riding champion James Flores on Saturday night. Flores will attempt to win his fourth Oklahoma Futurity, adding to his triumphs in 2015, 2019 and 2020. Flores won last year on Aint She Tempting, also trained by Arrossa.

Heavy Hitters Stable will have two opportunities to score the top prize Saturday as their De Laurentis also qualified into the field of 10. Also trained by Soto, De Laurentis will have Nestor Duran up at 5-1 odds.

The historic Oklahoma Futurity, the longest-running futurity in American Quarter Horse racing, carries a final purse this season of $477,200, making it the second-richest edition run at Remington Park. The 2017 running was worth $525,000.

Contested since 2006 at Remington Park, the Oklahoma Futurity has been run since 1947. The field, by program and post-position order, with trainer, jockey and morning-line odds for the 2021 running:

The Oklahoma Futurity leads a 12-race program which includes six other stakes events. The futurity goes as race 11 with an approximate post time of 10:29pm.

Remington Park racing continues Thursday through Sunday, March 18-21, with the first race nightly at 6pm. All times are Central.
