WHIRLAWAY WAGON STAYS UNDEFEATED AFTER TWO STARTS WITH WIN IN REMINGTON PARK JUVENILE

Whirlaway Wagon is two-for-two after winning the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile on Saturday night at Remington Park.

The Remington Park Juvenile is for 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds with preferences to those who competed in trials for the Remington Park Futurity.

If this 2-year-old gelding by Whirlaway Red, out of the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Lil Miss Party Doll, had not hopped at the start of his trial for the Remington Park Futurity, he might have made the finals of the $926,500 race. But that little hop, even though he won his trial, was possibly the difference in not being fast enough to qualify for the big-money final. It put him into the Remington Park Juvenile instead, and he made the most of it.

Jockey Raul Ramirez, Jr., was given a leg up by trainer Manuel Rodriguez for this race. The rider and gelding broke sharply from the outside post position and led throughout the entire race. Whirlaway Wagon stopped the timer in :16.672 for 330 yards over a fast track. That was good enough for a 93 speed index.

As the 7-5 betting favorite in the race, Whirlaway Wagon paid $4.80 to win, $3 to place and $2.20 to show. The winner finished a full length ahead of runner-up B Me (3-1 odds). Running third was VF Kiss Me Quick (4-1). The three favorites ran in exact order for the trifecta. It was the first win in this stakes race for all connections. The remaining order of finish included: Oro Cartel (4th), BP Fancydownsouth (5th), Marty James (6th), BV Stand My Me (7th) and Quasiluna (8th).

Owned by MRB Racing of North Las Vegas, Nev., Whirlaway Wagon was bred in Oklahoma by EC Buckskin Inc. He won $41,666 in the Juvenile and now has a career bankroll of $50,504 in only two tries.

The victory with Whirlaway Wagon provided the first win in the Remington Park Juvenile for all of his connections.

Remington Park racing continues on Sunday, April 18, with the first of 11 events at 6pm-Central.

Tracked by more than 165,000 fans on Facebook and 10,400 Twitter followers, Remington Park has provided more than $260 Million to the State of Oklahoma general education fund since the opening of the casino in 2005. Located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District, Remington Park is home to the $1 million Heritage Place Futurity on May 29.
