ASMUSSENS PILE UP FIVE WINS EACH FRIDAY AT REMINGTON PARK
For Immediate Release
Friday, October 9, 2026
Remington Park presented 10 races for the Friday, October 9, 2026 program. Trainer Steve Asmussen and his jockey son, Erik Asmussen, seized the night, working together for five wins each. The big night included a run of four consecutive scores.
The big evening of winning started in the fifth race of the night when Oban ($3 to win), came through in a $10,000 claiming event at 6-1/2 furlongs. From there it began to appear the father and son Asmussen operation would not lose again on the night as they stacked victories in the next three races.
Cant Stop Munnings ($4.40) won race six at six furlongs in a $10,000-level claiming race. The seventh race, about one mile over the turf, went to First Player ($6) in an allowance. In race eight, Extra Anejo ($3.40), a graded stakes-winning sprinter in 2025, won the allowance to end the Asmussen win streak on the night at four straight. However, there would be one more win before the card ended.
In the nightcap, race 10, a $7,500-level maiden-claiming event for Oklahoma-breds at six furlongs, Pass The Roses ($6.80) finally figured things out in his eighth career attempt to graduate. He provided the fifth win of the evening for the trainer-jockey team, and the fourth owning win on the night for Steve Asmusen of Arlington, Texas.
After the track was cleared and the win tallied, Steve Asmussen boasted 41 training wins through the first 23 nights of the season, leading the trainer standings by 30 over Scott Young and Austin Gustafson.
Erik Amussen catapulted David Cabrera for a slight lead in the jockey standings, 38 wins to 34.
The owner standings have Steve Asmussen atop the heap with 17 victories, 11 ahead of defending leading owner Bryan Hawk and his six.
Remington Park racing continues Saturday, Oct. 10 with the first race at 6:30pm-Central.
