Exotic Wagers

Exotic Wagers are the next step when learning to wager on horse racing. Exotic Wagers are when you are betting on more than one horse. The wagers are more difficult but the payoffs are larger with Exotic Wagers. The minimum amount varies for from $2 to .10-cents for the Exotic Wagers offered at Remington Park.

Exacta

Bet difficulty: tough
Your horses must finish first and second -in the exact order- to collect. There are three ways you can wager an Exacta:

Straight Exacta: You select the horses that you think will finish first and second. If you play a 3-5 Exacta, the #3 horse must finish first and the #5 horse must finish second. There is a $2 minimum for a straight Exacta.

Exacta Box: When you ‘box’ your horses in an Exacta wager, they can finish in any order. If you play a 3-5 Exacta Box, you collect if the finish is 3-5 or 5-3. There is a $1 minimum when using an Exacta Box. The more horses added to the ‘box’ will increase the cost.

Exacta Part-Wheel: A ‘part-wheel’ is when you select a horse you think will finish first and wheel over the horses you think will finish second. If you play a 2 over 3,4,7, the #2 horse must finish first and either the #3, #4 or #7 has to finish second for you to collect. The minimum for a ‘part-wheel’ is $1, the more horses you place in the wager will increase the cost.

Trifecta

Bet difficulty: tougher
Similar to an Exacta, except your horses must finish first, second and third to collect. There are three ways you can wager an Trifecta:

Straight Trifecta: You select the horses that you think will finish first, second and third in exact order. If you play a 5-7-9 Trifecta, the #5 must finish first, #7 must finish second and #9 must finish third. There is a $.50-cent minimum for a straight Trifecta.

Trifecta Box: When you ‘box’ your horses in an Trifecta wager, they can finish in any order. If you play a 5-7-9 Exacta Box, you collect if the top three finishers are 5-7-9 regardless of order. There is a .50-Cent minimum when using an Trifecta Box

Trifecta Part-Wheel: When you use a ‘part-wheel’ while betting a Trifecta, you select a horse you think will finish first and wheel over horses you think will finish second and third. If you play a 5 over 7-9-11 over 7-9-11-12, the #2 horse must win, the #7, #9 or #11 must be second and the #7, #9, #11, or #12 must be third. There is a .50-Cent minimim for a Trifecta Part-Wheel

Superfecta

Bet difficulty: toughest
The most difficult of the exotic wagers, the Superfecta is when you pick the horses that finish first, second, third and fourth. There are three ways you can wager a Superfecta:

Straight Superfecta: You select the horses you think will finish first, second, third and fourth in exact order. If you play a 2-3-4-7 Superfecta, The #2 must be first, #3 must be second, #4 must be third and the #7 must be fourth. There is a $.10-Cent minimum for a straight Superfecta

Superfecta Box: When you ‘box’ your horses in the Superfecta, they can finish in any order. If you play a 2-3-4-7 Superfecta Box, you collect if the top four finishers are 2-3-4-7 regardless of order. There is a .10-Cent minimum when using a Superfecta box.

Superfecta Part-Wheel: When you use the Part-Wheel while betting a Superfecta, you select a horse you think will finish first and wheel that horse over horses you think will finish second, third and fourth.
