CABRERA DOMINANCE AT REMINGTON PARK CONTINUES
The Remington Park season is becoming the season of David Cabrera. The former four-time leading jockey in Oklahoma City has turned up the heat on the rest of the colony here, posting multiple win nights with ease.
Friday, Aug. 22, Cabrera made is three consecutive race nights at Remington Park with at least three victories on the card. He put up his first riding triple on Aug. 16, topped that with a four-win night on Thursday, Aug. 21, then posted another triple tonight.
Cabrera’s most-recent hat trick gives him 14 wins through the first seven nights of this season. He leads Stewart Elliott, the two-time defending champ at Remington Park, by four wins in the standings.
Cabrera picked up his first win Friday night in the fourth race aboard Okie Love ($8.20) in an Oklahoma-bred race for $20,000-level claimers. Da Candy Cane ($3) won as the favorite in the seventh race, another Oklahoma-bred event for $5,000-level claimers. The riding triple was completed in the eighth-race, a starter-allowance over the turf, as Cabrera brought Ocelot ($2.80) through along the rail in the stretch for victory.
Cabrera won four consecutive titles at Remington Park (2018-2021) and is showing he may be ready to bid for a fifth if he can continue this level of success. He is now only four wins away from his 600th career score at Remington Park.
Remington Park racing continues Saturday, Aug. 23, with the first race at 6pm-Central.
