FAMOUS N RELENTLESS WINS REMINGTON PARK JUVENILE STAKES AS HEAVY FAVORITE FOR JOCKEY RAMIRO GARCIA, TRAINER JASON OLMSTEAD
Trainer Jason Olmstead may not have won the Remington Park Futurity after qualifying four for that final, but that didn’t stop his charge, Famous N Relentless, from capturing the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile Stakes.
The Remington Park Juvenile is for eligible Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds who competed in trials for the Remington Park Futurity.
Jockey Ramiro Garcia booted home the heavy 7-5 wagering favorite in the Juvenile for Olmstead. The win kept jockey Juan Pulido from scoring a stakes riding triple as he was one length back in second, aboard DR Urban Cowboy (6-1). BP Saving Grace (18-1) was a half-length farther back in third. The rest of the order was Billys Brandi (12-1) fourth, Tell Sashay Shes Hot (6-1) fifth, Merkaba (18-1) sixth, Shez An Outgoing Gal (6-1) seventh, Jess Revenge (10-1) eighth, Get Up N Gone (17-1) ninth and Flashin the Candy (9-1) 10th.
Garcia got this 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding to the wire in the 330-yard race in :16.506 seconds for a 98 speed-index. He paid $4.80 to win, $3.40 to place and $3.40 to show. Olmstead won the Juvenile for the second year in a row, taking it down last year with Relentless American for owner Tom Maher, with jockey Edwin Escobedo up.
Famous N Relentless is a 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred son of Hes Relentless, out of the Tres Seis mare Tritoon. He was bred by owner Tom Maher, who owns this gelding in conjunction with Amber Olmstead of Pryor, Okla. The winner remains undefeated after two starts. He won his trial but was not fast enough to qualify for the futurity final. He earned $40,000 for Saturday’s win and improved his money roll to $48,625.
