GLAMAZON WINS FEATURED ALLOWANCE RACE WITH LATE BLAZING BURST OF SPEED

Glamazon made it two wins in a row at Remington Park, taking the allowance feature here on Thursday night.

Trainer Leonardo Alcala sent this 3-year-old filly out for the first time this meet after claiming her for $20,000 in her last win for new owner Cristian Leonardo Alcala of Naples, Fla., out of trainer Michael Joiner’s barn. She has been to post three times this meet and made it to the winner’s circle two of those three times. Jockey Rodrigo Vallejo was aboard for Thursday night’s win while Jose Amador Alvarez booted her home back on April 14 for Joiner. The daughter of A Revenant, out of the Hard Hitting mare Eat the Fish, turned right around off the claim, stepped up in class against allowance Oklahoma-bred horses and didn’t look fazed, flying to the wire first.

Glamazon won on April 14 by a half-length with $20,000 claimers and then got up by a neck Thursday night at 8-1 odds. She was fourth, coming down the stretch of the 330-yard race and moved up to second and whooshed past the front-running Sophia Maria for the last-second victory. Glamazon earned $17,634 from the $31,240 purse, almost returning the amount of money she was claimed for in her last race. She improved her record to eight starts, three wins, and two seconds for $57,812 in earnings. She got a speed index of 89 for her time of :16.842 seconds at the 330 yards distance.

Glamazon paid $19.40 to win, $9 to place and $6.80 to show. Sophia Maria (7-1) was a half-length in front of third-place finisher Tres Elegance (10-1). The two favorites in the race, Fdd Chocolate Candy (8-5) and Jt Business Man (2-1) checked in sixth and fifth place, respectively.

Glamazon was bred in Oklahoma by Denis and Julie Schoenhofer, who also owned her when she was claimed.

Live racing continues this week with a Friday-Sunday schedule. First post time is 6 p.m. every night except Sunday when it is 4 p.m.
