I Got Thiss said, “hold my bucket of water,” and then proceeded to pull off this biggest upset of the day, winning the $188,975 Remington Park Oaks. The longshot put an end Alliekat Dynasty’s seven-race winning streak.

I Got Thiss went off at 21-1 odds and gave trainer Juvenal Licona-Vazquez what he called “the biggest win of my life.” This 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Apollitical Jess, out of the Tres Seis mare Senorita Tres, earned $75,590 from the purse for owner Bryton Dewald of Jamestown, N.D.

Licona-Vazquez choked back tears as he talked about the victory.

“I want to dedicate this win to my mother,” he said, voice cracking. “Biggest win of my life. This filly is little, but her heart is bigger than anyone knows.”

Licona-Vazquez and his owner joined forces again this year after being separated for a short stint.

“I picked up this filly (from him) in early March after we got the team back together,” said Licona-Vazquez. “This was his best horse. She proved she likes the distance and I thought this (400 yards) would be perfect for her.”

With jockey Cristian Esqueda pushing all the right buttons, she also beat an absolute monster of a filly in Alliekat Dynasty. That 3-year-old filly by FDD Dynasty, out of the Apollitical Jess mare Pollitical Scorpion, had won her last seven consecutive races, three of them stakes races. She was sent off the heavy favorite at 4-5 odds and ran third a half-length back of the winner. Alliekat Dynasty had won the $70,000 FL Lady Bugs Stakes at Remington Park on May 27, 2023; the Grade 2, $203,000 OHA Mystery Futurity at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla., on Sept, 25, 2023, and the Grade 2 $50,000 Decketta Stakes at Remington Park this meet on March 16. It was the filly’s first loss in stakes company.

I Got Thiss paid a whopping $45.60 to win, $24 to place and $8.60 to show across the board. She combined with runner-up Sequoyah (44-1) to pay $832.20 for a $2 exacta. The 50-cent trifecta, even with the odds-on favorite third, returned $1,164.50 on a 50-cent wager. Sequoyah was a head in front of Alliekat Dynasty at the wire.

I Got Thiss improved career-wise to 11 starts, two wins, two seconds and four shows for $97,391 in earnings. She was purchased in the 2022 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale for $45,000.

The winning time for the race was :19.849 on the fast track for an 89 speed-index.

The remaining order of finish in the Remington Park Oaks was: I Am Candy (4th), AJ Gold Heart (5th), JC Wild Queen (6th), Dezigner Jeanz (7th), Lady Lew (8th), BV Miss Mona (9th) and Countess Tres Seis (10th and last).
