JOCKEY RICHARD ERAMIA GETS RIDING QUADRUPLE SATURDAY AT REMINGTON PARK
Don’t be surprised if the next time the skies open up and the track gets muddy, jockey Richard Eramia has a smile on his face.
After heavy rains hit Remington Park on Friday, leaving the track muddy at the start of Saturday evening, Eramia celebrated with four wins on the card. The huge night of victories moved Eramia up from No. 7 to No. 6 in the jockey standings, passing Iram Diego. Eramia’s four trips to the winner’s circle gave him 28 for the meet. Stewart Elliott leads all riders with 66 wins this season.
The first Eramia win Saturday came in the first race when he cruised home an easy winner by 3-1/4 lengths board Regal Terka (9-2 odds) in a race originally scheduled for the turf course. The heavy rains this week prevented that and it was run on the main surface at one mile. Regal Turka ($11.60 to win) sat second down the backstretch under Eramia and he asked the 3-year-old Texas-bred gelding to run in the stretch, he made up three lengths and whooshed past the two front-runners, Life at Sea (4-1) and Devil’s Mischief (4-5 betting favorite) for the easy win. Regal Turka, a son of Eagle, out of the Summer Bird mare Pinetop, is owned by John Wilke of Canyon, Texas, and trainer Mindy Willis. Regal Terka was bred by his owner.
Eramia’s second victory of the evening came in race three when Zim’s Trans Am (8-5 second favorite) won a stretch battle with Travis in a maiden race, prevailing by a half- length. Travis finished four lengths ahead of the rest of the field, including 8-5 favorite Cherokee Will, who could do no better than fourth.
Eramia booted Zim’s Trans Am home in gate-to-wire fashion for owner Bryan Hawk of Shawnee, Okla., and Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame trainer Joe Offolter. Zim’s Trans Am ($5.40), a 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding was a winner in his second career start after running third in his career debut. He is by Lord Nelson, out of the Into Mischief mare Natalie’s Mischief, and was bred by his owner.
The third victory for Eramia was aboard Mamashavnahotflash ($9.80) in the sixth of nine races, as that 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Den’s Legacy, out of the Harlan’s Holiday mare Flexfuel, passed the pacesetter, Ms. Hillary (44-1) to win by 1-3/4 lengths. Okie Code (13-1) was third, three lengths behind Mamashavnahotflash.
Eramia got Mamashavnahotflash home for owner Theophilus Deonta Adams Scales, Jr., of Lockhart, Texas, and trainer Brent Davidson. The winning filly was bred by Center Hills Farm.
Win No. 4 for Eramia was in the saddle of Elusive Power (2-1 second favorite) in race eight as Eramia powered this 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding home by 1-1/2 lengths. It was the second win in a row for this son of Jimmy Creed, out of the Power Broker mare Elusive Clouds. It was also the second win of the night for owner-breeder Hawk, who got his 20th win to lead those standings by seven wins over Dick Cappellucci. Elusive Power ($6.20) is trained by Offolter, who won his second of the night.
Eramia went gate-to-wire aboard Elusive Power, holding off runner-up He’s All Ears (5-1) and covered the 5-1/2 furlongs on the main track in 1:04.12. The 9-5 favorite, Promise Code, checked in third, 5-1/2 lengths behind the winner.
Remington Park’s Dale Day Has Giant Tip Sheet Score
When From the Heart ($23), at 10-1 odds, made a late run to catch favorites Eakly (1-2) and Changing Times (3-1), winning the final leg of the Late Pick 5, track announcer/handicapper Dale Day’s tipsheet had a perfect 5-for-5 on a suggested $48 wager. He had correctly predicted the outcome of the five winners for races five through nine.
If anyone had played that wager from his tipsheet, which is free daily at remingtonpark.com, they would have cashed a ticket for approximately $36,000. Instead, the best anyone did on the Late Pick 5 was 4-of-5 on Saturday night and those tickets paid $415.75 each.
Day’s tipsheet also correctly selected the four winners in the Primetime (late) Pick 4 that paid out $1,506.95. His suggested wager in that bet was $32.
It was the third time in a row that Day’s tipsheet had correctly selected a Pick 4. He was successful in solving both Pick 4s on Saturday night and had done the same in Friday night’s Primetime Pick 4.
The Friday Primetime Pick 4 paid $118.75 while the Saturday Premier (early) Pick 4 paid $245.95. Day’s suggested total wagers for those three bets was $134, they paid a nifty overall of $1,871.65.
