MOR VICTORY LIVED UP TO HIS NAME IN WIRE-TO-WIRE FASHION, WINNING FEATURED ALLOWANCE ON TURF

OKLAHOMA CITY – Mor Victory won his third race in his last four starts, going wire-to-wire in a 1-1/16 miles route race on the turf Wednesday night.

Jockey Isaiah Wiseman set down this 4-year-old Texas-bred gelding in front of everyone out of the gate and milked that lead into the stretch where Mor Victory was more than enough. This son of Mor Spirit, out of the Deputy Commander mare Deputy Sarah, has now won three of his five tries at Remington Park on the grass. He was dropping in class from the $75,000 Remington Green Stakes back into allowance company and it did the trick.

Mor Victory won by 1-1/2 lengths as the second-longest priced horse in the race at 12-1. The only opponent that was longer odds was Alex Joon (22-1), who ran third. The 6-5 favorite, Ocelot, finished a well-beaten last. Mor Victory paid $27.40 to win, $10.40 to place and $6.40 to show across the board.

The winner, trained by Jayde Gelner, earned $23,949 from the $40,000 purse and improved lifetime to 24 starts, seven wins, two seconds and four thirds for a bankroll of $216,785. He was purchased by Scott Gelner for $25,000 at the Keeneland Association September Yearling Sale in 2021.

Mor Victory made every pole a winning one on the turf course, setting fractions of :23.91 for the first quarter-mile, :49.21 for the half-mile, 1:13.62 for six furlongs, and 1:37.14 for the mile before stopping the timer for the distance in 1:43.51 over the firm course.

Mazuma (3-1 third favorite) checked in third, only a head in front of the longshot Alex Joon. The 50-cent trifecta (1-6-5) with the two favorites running next-to-last and last paid $333.15.

Mor Victory’s other two wins on the grass in his last four attempts came at a mile distance at Remington Park on Aug. 24 and at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on July 13. His win in Texas came in the $82,000 Assault Stakes for Texas-breds.

Remington Park racing continues Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 24-26. The $75,000 Clever Trevor Stakes, for 2-year-olds, is the featured race of the week on Friday. The first race nightly is at 6:30pm-Central.
