The Grade 1, $1,207,640 Heritage Place Futurity will put a bow on the Remington Park season this Saturday night. The richest event in Oklahoma racing will be the final race of the season.

The 10 qualifiers for the event have entered what is expected to be a very competitive 350-yard race. The field was decided during two separate days of time trials on May 12 and May 15. San Lencho, the top qualifier from the May 15 session, drew the outside post position and has been tabbed as the morning-line favorite at 3-1 odds.

San Lencho, owned by breeder Rogelio Marquez, Jr of Rosenberg, Texas, will be ridden by regular rider Juan Pulido as he attempts to stay undefeated. Trainer Waylan Melton will lead the 2-year-old colt by Apollitical Jess from the Heza Fast Dash mare Dashnunder over to the paddock. He broke his maiden at first-asking on March 24 by a head and then pulled clear to win his Heritage Place Futurity trial by 1-3/4 lengths.

Melton will also have two others in the Heritage Place Futurity as he is responsible for PYC Legacy (5th qualifier on May 15) and Flyn Electric Cowboy (2nd qualifier on May 15). They will start from posts two and eight respectively.

Trainer Jason Olmstead matches Melton’s three qualifiers to the Heritage Place Futurity with his own trio. Midnight Politics (3rd qualifier on May 15), Cardiac Cowboy (2nd qualifier on May 12) and Sheza Famous Candy (3rd qualifier on May 12) will represent the Olmstead operation. They start from post-positions three, five and six respectively.

The top qualifier from the May 12 trials, MFS Cheerio, is 5-1 in the morning-line and will leave post number seven. Trained by Eddie Willis and ridden by Justine Klaiber, MFS Cheerio blew his field away on trials night to win by 2-3/4 lengths. In his only previous start, a trial for the Remington Park Futurity, MFS Cheerio was a disappointing sixth, beaten three lengths.
