REMINGTON PARK STAKES SCHEDULE BOASTS 12 GRADE 1 EVENTS, NEARLY $6 MILLION IN ESTIMATED PURSES

The 2024 Remington Park American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season, which begins Thursday, March 7, will be jam-packed with some of the top horses in the country battling for stakes money and nearly $6 Million in estimated purses. The schedule includes a dozen Grade 1 stakes.

The Grade 1 stakes would be 15 if one counted the restricted Grade 1 races. The Remington Park Futurity has an estimated purse of $775,000 and the Remington Park Derby $150,000, and the Dee Raper Sooner State Stakes $100,000, all on Saturday, April 27 and all restricted Grade 1 events for Oklahoma-breds.

Of the 12 Grade 1 races, six of those will occur on closing night, Saturday, June 1, featuring the estimated $1 million Heritage Place Futurity, a 350-yard race for 2-year-old Quarter Horses. The race was run for more than $1.2 million last year when it was won by San Lencho.

A total of 50 race dates are set for Remington Park with a regular schedule of Thursdays through Sundays. First post time is set nightly for 6 p.m. except for Sundays when it is 4 p.m. There are three dates that have special post times – Saturday, May 4, Kentucky Derby Day at noon; Saturday, May 18, Preakness Day at noon, and Saturday, June 1, Champions Night at 5 p.m. All times are Central.

The six Grade 1 events on June 1 are the Heritage Place Futurity, the $250,000 Debbie Schauf Remington Park Championship, the $100,000 Junos Request, the $225,000 (est.) Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, and the $30,000 National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for Paints & Appaloosas.

Closing night will also feature the Grade 2 estimated $225,000 Heritage Place Derby, Grade 2 estimated $225,000 Heritage Place Oaks and the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile. The total purses on Champions Night will be more than $2,000,000 and is the richest race date in Oklahoma horse racing.
