REMINGTON PARK TURF COURSE MARK FALLS FOR SECOND TIME THIS WEEK

The Remington Park turf course is firm… and fast, proven by the about 7-1/2 furlongs course record falling for the second time this week. Saturday night, Excaping the Blues took over ownership of the mark, crossing the finish in 1:29.70.

Excaping the Blues bettered the about 7-1/2 furlongs course record, less than 48 hours after his stablemate, Sonic Posse, set a new mark in 1:29.74 on Thursday, Aug. 21. Before the Thursday run of Sonic Posse, the old mark for the measure stood since Sept. 18, 2019 when Gymnastic handled it 1:30.05.

Francisco Bravo is the trainer of both Excaping the Blues and Sonic Posse, keeping the turf mark in his barn for now.

Owned by Michael Grossman of Fredericksburg, Texas, Excaping the Blues was ridden by Iram Diego. The 5-year-old gelding immediately went to the front of the six-horse field of Oklahoma-breds and had enough left to hold off the hard charge of Number One Dude down the stretch to prevail by a head. Tap the Dot, making his first start since November last year, was third, 2-1/2 lengths behind the winner.

Away at 3-1 odds, Excaping the Blues paid $8.20 to win, $4.60 to place and $2.60 to show. Earning $26,349 of the $44,000 purse, Excaping the Blues boosted his lifetime bankroll to $151,554. He has now won six of 27 starts, with three seconds and three thirds.

Excaping the Blues is by Excaper from the Purim mare Pure Blue Sky and was bred by Eureka Thoroughbred Farm.

Remington Park racing continues Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 28-30. The first race nightly is at 6pm-Central.
