HERNANDEZ MILESTONE BID WITHIN REACH THIS WEEKEND AT REMINGTON PARK
Jockey Harry Hernandez slowly but surely is inching his way closer to the 1,000-victory mark in his North American racing career.
Hernandez had stalled like a warm front over Oklahoma in the summer but has won a couple this week and now only needs four more wins to hit the 1,000-win mark in the United States. He had been stuck on 994 since Oct. 12, the date of his last score, but won aboard heavy favorite Northvale Road in the sixth race Wednesday night for 995. He then scored again Thursday night with Hollywoodboulevard in the opening race after Mizz Factor was disqualified due to interference on the horse that ran fourth – Blazing Performer. Oklahoma Horse Racing stewards disqualified Mizz Factor and that gave Hernandez win No. 996.
Hernandez rode Northvale Road in a $20,000 claiming sprint at six furlongs for owner-trainer Dick Cappellucci for win No. 995 on Wednesday. His 996th trip to the winner’s circle came Thursday for owner Susan Moulton of San Antonio and trainer Matt Hebert.
Hernandez has eight mounts tonight, Friday, Oct. 25. He rides Aztec Fire (20-1 morning-line odds) in race one, Two Hands Full (5-1) in race two, Mach Two (6-1) in race four, Let Me Love You (15-1) in race five, Macy Red (2-1 favorite) in race six, Fastened (9-2) in race seven, Queen Of Salsa (4-1) in race nine and Medicine Dog (8-1) in race 10, the $75,000 Clever Trevor Stakes.
Hernandez moved to the USA from his native Puerto Rico in 2015.
Clever Trevor Stakes Now at Eight
The $75,000 Clever Trevor Stakes, the feature tonight, is now an eight-horse field.
My Wife Is Right (12-1) has scratched from the race. Trevaggio (8-1) will now break from the starting gate, closest to the rail.
The Clever Trevor is scheduled for 10:51pm. The first race this evening is at 6:30pm. The track is fast and the turf is firm.
