TRIANA NEARS 500, “AT THE RACES” LIVE FROM REMINGTON PARK
Just two race nights remain for the 2024 Remington Park season, with the grand finale featuring the $300,000 Springboard Mile.
A qualifying points race for the 2025 Kentucky Derby, the Springboard features a field of 12 entrants on Friday, Dec. 13. Until then, nine more races will be contested on tonight’s Thursday program, underway at 6:30pm-Central. The track will be fast.
Triana Needs One
Jockey Alfredo Triana, Jr. picked up one victory on Wednesday evening when he got Our Cornerstone up to win in the finals strides of a seven-furlong starter allowance event in the second race of the evening. The win was the second consecutive for Our Cornerstone this season at Remington Park, and his 11th career victory. The 5-year-old gelding competes for Circle Bar H LLC of Sallisaw, Okla., also his breeder. Jerry Stephens trains the Oklahoma-bred son of Optimizer from the Awesome Again mare American Sound.
The win aboard Our Cornerstone was career victory No. 499 for Triana. He has seven mounts from the nine races tonight to try and gain his 500th. Triana is on the following this evening, with their morning-line odds:
Race 1 – 10 Texan Farmer, 12-1
Race 2 – 4 First Words, 5-2 (morning-line favorite)
Race 4 – 5 Nada Yada Yada, 5-1
Race 5 – 11 Gospel Freely, 8-1
Race 7 – 8 Mr. Biz, 6-1
Race 8 – 6 When Judy Calls, 12-1
Race 9 – 11 Wish Man, 10-1
For the Remington Park season Triana has 32 wins, ninth in the jockey standings behind Stewart Elliott’s 85.
At the Races Live from Remington
Steve Byk will broadcast his “At the Races” national horse racing show on Friday morning at Remington Park, previewing the Springboard Mile and the final night of the season.
“At the Races” can be heard live on SiriusXM radio on Sirius channel 162 and on XM channel 207. The show is horse racing’s longest running and best-known daily radio news magazine, airing from 8-11am-Central, Monday through Friday.
Remington Park vice-president of racing, Matt Vance, is set to guest with Byk on the Friday morning show to talk Springboard Mile night and more.
