SO JORDAN OUTLASTS SHIP OF DREAMS IN REMINGTON PARK FEATURE TO GAIN FOURTH CAREER WIN
Four-time title winner at Remington Park in the jockeys’ race, David Cabrera, showed why he has been so successful here as he rode So Jordan perfectly in Friday night’s feature allowance race to outlast Ship of Dreams by a head.
Cabrera let Ship of Dreams go to a swift lead early in the six-furlong race and set hot fractions that would make her vulnerable in the stretch. He sat in third behind the pacesetter for most of the race and then made one run with So Jordan in mid-stretch, just getting up at the wire, winning the head bob.
So Jordan, a 6-year-old veteran Oklahoma-bred mare by Wilburn, out of the Afleet Alex mare So What, won for the fourth time in her career, this time as the 3-2 betting favorite. Her winning time was 1:11.36 over the fast track. She cut through Ship of Dreams’ fractions of :22.33 for the first quarter-mile, :45.67 for the half-mile, and :58.17 for five-eighths of a mile.
The Scott Corderman-trained mare paid $5 to win, $2.60 to place and $2.10 to show. The pair, So Jordan and Ship of Dreams (7-2) were well clear of the third-place finisher Seriously Outahere (5-2), who finished another 3-1/2 lengths back.
So Jordan is owned by C. Dale Ledgess of Davis, Okla. She earned $23,932 for her trip to the winner’s circle and improved lifetime to 19 starts, four wins, five seconds and four thirds with a bankroll of $141,370. She was bred by her owner.
