EYESA WAGON MY TALE WINS JACK BROOKS AT REMINGTON PARK
Eyesa Wagon My Tale showed plenty of talent earlier this Remington Park season, qualifying fastest for the Remington Park Oaks in April. Despite that resume, she was ignored at 12-1 odds in winning the $50,000 Jack Brooks Stakes on Saturday, May 31 at Remington.
A rough trip in the Remington Park Oaks where she bore in on rivals, caused Eyesa Wagon My Tale to be disqualified from sixth to ninth. The effort was much cleaner in the Jack Brooks Stakes.
Eyesa Wagon My Tale moved to the lead of the 350-yard race for Oklahoma-bred 3-year-olds shortly after the start and never looked back. Jockey Edwin Escobedo kept her focused as she pulled away from her rivals to win by three-quarters of a length in :17.383, earning a speed index of 97 on the fast track.
Perry Fast tried to mount a rally from the outside but settled for second. Ima Fancy Eye Opener, the 3-2 betting favorite, stumbled badly at the start, then managed to recover to gain third in a gallant effort.
Eyesa Wagon My Tale paid $27 to win, $10.60 to place and $5.40 to show.
Owned by Leto Land and Cattle of Lawton, Okla., Eyesa Wagon My Tale is trained by Marc Jungers. She won her third career race from nine attempts, along with four second-place efforts. The $27,000 winner’s share of the purse moved her total earnings to $75,089.
This was the first victory in the Jack Brooks Stakes for all of the connections of Eyesa Wagon My Tale.
