ONE FABULOUS BOY PICKS UP FIFTH REMINGTON PARK WIN, TAKING FEATURED ALLOWANCE AT 550 YARDS

In his past 11 starts, One Fabulous Boy has raced in stakes company in nine of those tries. He has been in allowance races only twice in those 11 starts, and won both of them, including Sunday’s feature race at Remington Park.

One Fabulous Boy, an Oklahoma-bred 6-year-old gelded son of One Fabulous Eagle, out of the Check Him Out mare Check Out Kaelie, is turning into quite the horse for the course as he won for the fifth time at Remington Park in 10 races. This victory came with jockey Angel O. Ramirez in the saddle for trainer Ed Hardy. One Fabulous Eagle, the 4-5 post-time favorite, earned $19,965 from the $34,980 allowance purse and improved his record to 22 starts, nine wins, one second and three thirds for earnings of $218,558 for owner Paul Wolfe of Simi Valley, Calif. The Wolfes, Paul and Diane, bred this horse.

One Fabulous Boy hit the line a full length in front of runner-up Im No Lawyer Butt (3-1 second favorite) at 550 yards. The winner stopped the timer in :26.902 seconds on the fast track, earning a speed-index of 102. Alexandra K (15-1) checked in third, a half-length back of Im No Lawyer Butt.

The winner paid $3.60 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.20 to show.

One Fabulous Boy is a gelding with a passport full of stamps. In his nine stakes races over his past 11 starts, he has had stops at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa; Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas; Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M.; the Downs at Albuquerque in New Mexico, and at Remington Park. His other allowance win came at Remington Park. His best efforts against black-type horses were back-to-back victories in Prairie Meadows’ Championship Challenge Stakes in 2023-24. Ramirez has been his regular rider at most of these venues.

One Fabulous Boy was coming off a third-place finish in the SLM Big Daddy Stakes at Remington Park on March 9 this spring. That has proven to be a key race here as the winner, Mr Michel, not only won that stakes race, but came back and won the Grade 1 Leo Stakes yesterday, in what his follow-up start. The horse that ran second in the SLM Big Daddy, Js On Fire, came right back and won his next out after that stakes attempt.

Remington Park racing continues Thursday through Sunday, May 8-11, with a couple of early special post times to kick off the week. There will be 13 Heritage Place Futurity trials on Thursday and Friday, May 8 & 9, with both card underway at 5pm-Central.
