VAZQUEZ STAYS SUPER HOT, TRIPLES AGAIN AT REMINGTON PARK AND SCORES FEATURED ALLOWANCE

No one can actually be this hot and stay this hot, unless your name is Ramon Vazquez and you are the leading jockey at Remington Park.

Vazquez is so hot, he is piling up an impressive streak of four consecutive multiple win nights at Remington Park. His Friday night triple gets added on to a riding triple (Sept. 18), a riding double (Sept. 19) and an impressive riding quadruple (Sept. 20). He has now won 13 races over the last four dates of action in Oklahoma City.

The Vazquez hat trick tonight happened for three different trainers, including the featured allowance in the seventh aboard Gunflash. Vazquez won with Gunflash in the eighth race for trainer Abel Ramirez-Rodriguez. His other two victories came in the saddle of Hamlin ($5.60 to win) in the first race of the night after trainer Robertino Diodoro gave him a leg up. The second trip to the winner’s circle Friday was for trainer Dick Cappellucci aboard Ziti (Fr)($9.80) in the fifth.

Cappellucci had a big night Friday with two wins of his own. He also saddled Touchdown Oklahoma ($8.80) to victory in race six.

Gunflash, owned by Jerry Namy of Fort Worth, Texas, rebounded from a 12-lengths loss at Ellis Park in Kentucky on Aug. 2, to win by 2-1/2 lengths in an allowance-optional claiming $35,000 race Friday. The 5-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Gun Runner, out of the Political Force mare Flashy Campaign, had not won a race since the last time he ran at Remington Park on Nov. 16, 2024. That gives him a two-race win streak in Oklahoma City. He had lost six in a row before his return. Gunflash was bred by his owner.

Gunflash was sent off as the 6-5 wagering favorite and paid $4.40 to win, $3 to place and $2.20 to show. He also was running under the $35,000 claiming condition and was claimed for that price by owner Karon Ashford of Moore, Okla. by trainer Ray Ashford.

Gunflash came from dead last in the six-furlong sprint to pass them all and didn’t lead in the race until the final jumps. He cut into fractions set by Zavala (22-1 odds), the longest price on the board, of :22.15 for the first quarter-mile, :45.36 for the half-mile, and :57.72 at five-eighths of a mile before Gunflash blew by him in the final furlong to cross the finish in 1:10.42 over the fast track. Zavala led by as much as three lengths in the early going of the race. Checking in third was J.P. Race (4-1).

Gunflash won for the fourth time in nine tries over the Remington Park main track. He earned $23,932 for his effort and improved his lifetime marks to 29 starts, seven wins, two seconds and three thirds for a bankroll of $268,671.

The three victories pushed Vazquez to 699 wins lifetime at Remington Park. He is now just two behind Benny Landeros, who sits sixth on the all-time list here with 701.

Cold Fact Fast 5-1/2 Furlongs
In the eighth race Friday, Cold Fact, ran the fastest time of the meet at the distance of 5-1/2 furlongs on the main track, winning in 1:03.94. The 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelded son of Magna Graduate, from the Indian Charlie mare Lost Dreams, is owned by Adco Farms and Surber Racing of Tuttle, Okla. He was bred by Clark Brewster of Tulsa, Okla.

Under the guidance of jockey Iram Diego, Cold Fact stalked the early leader Boozeintheblender in the race for Oklahoma-breds before finally taking over at the top of the stretch, then breaking away to win by an easy four lengths.

Cold Fact, a $37 winner for bettors, is trained by Alan Williams.
