VILLAFRANCO GAINS 1,000TH CAREER WIN, SATURDAY AT REMINGTON PARK

After leading throughout the opening race Saturday at Remington Park, All Aflutter had to dig in down the stretch to hang on for victory. The score against Oklahoma-bred $5,000-level claimers gave trainer Federico Villafranco his 1,000th career training win.

Jockey Isaiah Wiseman put All Aflutter, a 6-year-old gray mare on the lead shortly after the start of the 6-1/2 furlong event. Once there, Wiseman angled her over from the outside post-position, clearing her five older filly and mare rivals, to take up residence at the rail. That move, and reserving some energy, paid off in the final furlong as All Aflutter fended off the rally of Okie Love, the favorite at 1-2 odds, to cross the finish a head in front for victory in 1:20.96 over the fast track.

Villafranco had been sitting on 999 career training wins since saddling Beverly Diner to victory on July 10 at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Okla. The milestone win is the first of the Remington Park season for Villafranco.

All Aflutter went off at 7-1 odds and paid $17.20 for the win, $4.60 to place and $2.20 to show.

Wethey Triples
Jockey Floyd Wethey, Jr. posted a riding hat trick on Saturday night at Remington Park moving into a tie for fourth in the rider standings.

The triple began with Magic Castle ($4.80 to win) in race three. The second Wethey win came aboard Elegant Okie ($9) in the fifth race. The third score on the evening was in race seven on Momacya ($3.40).

Wethey now has 43 wins for the season, tied with Stewart Elliott. Ramon Vazquez leads the way with 73 wins, followed by David Cabrera in second with 49 and Erik Asmussen third with 45.
