BROBERG STILL WINNING AS AN OWNER, MASON SCORES FIRST WIN OF REMINGTON PARK SEASON

Karl Broberg, past training title-winner at Remington Park, hung up his tack as a trainer but he is still winning races here as an owner.

End Zone Athletics, Broberg’s ownership wing of his racing empire, won for the second time this meet on Friday night when Mo Saturdays took the second race with ease as the 1-5 favorite with jockey Harry Hernandez up.

Mo Saturdays is trained by Abel Ramirez-Rodriguez, who took over the duties when Broberg retired. Broberg won two training titles at Remington Park when he ended long winning streaks in this category by 18-time top trainer here, Steve Asmussen, in 2015 and 2022. Mo Saturdays, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred gelding by Mo Town, out of the Seeking the Dia mare Mighty Katherine, won Friday by 6-3/4 lengths, going 1 mile-70 yards in 1:44.47.

Broberg is the mastermind behind End Zone Athletics of Mansfield, Texas, a three-time leading owner at Remington Park, including the last two years. With the Friday triumph, End Zone Athletics moved within four of the lead that is held by Dick Cappellucci with six victories.

The owners’ award at Remington Park is named the Ran Ricks, Jr. trophy for the first owner ever on the grounds at Remington Park in 1988. He won six titles here prior to his passing in 1996.

Trainer Ingrid Mason Breaks Remington Maiden
Longtime trainer Ingrid Mason, who moved to Remington Park on a full-time basis this fall with a string of all-time winningest owner Danny Caldwell’s horses, won for the first time in Oklahoma City with He’s All Ears in the sixth race on Friday night. Caldwell, from Poteau, Okla., has moved well past the 400-mark in victories here. It was Mason’s first photo in the Remington Park winner’s circle this meet. She has won 532 races in her career.

Side note: “He really doesn’t have big ears,” Mason said of her winner. “I don’t know why they named him that.” He’s All Ears is a 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelded son of Da Stoops, out of the Eurorears mare Earsahead.
