CABRERA CLIMBS STANDINGS, CAPPELLUCCI LEADING TWO CATEGORIES

David Cabrera, a four-time leading jockey at Remington Park (2019-2022), posted a three-win night Thursday, sending a signal he may be ready to once again challenge for the title in Oklahoma City.

Cabrera started hot in the opener Thursday, scoring with Okie Magic ($18 to win), continued with another longshot in Daryls Trump Card ($33.80) in race four, before wrapping up his hat trick on heavily favored U. S. Army ($3.20) in the sprint feature in race seven.

The Jones, Okla. resident is back off his most recent injury, a broken femur incurred last October at Remington Park. Cabrera appears to be riding with standings-leading confidence once again so the race at the top of the jockey colony could get very interesting.

Friday Morning Work, Aug. 30
Trainer Alan Williams worked Ship of Dreams to the bullet four furlongs on Friday at Remington Park, a cooler morning with temperatures staying in the mid-70s. The 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly rolled over the fast surface in :47.14 handily.

Owned and bred by Forrest Hills Farm of Guthrie, Okla., Ship of Dreams is a daughter of Midshipman from the Mutakddim broodmare Ginger My Love. She broke her maiden in her second career start on Nov. 14, 2023 by an astounding 13-1/4 lengths. Her Friday work was the fastest of 34 at the measure.

Thursday Morning Work, Aug. 29
Miss Code Red, a 2-year-old filly still seeking her first start, turned in the fastest time at four furlongs on Thursday, breaking from the gate at a half-mile and stopping the timer in :48.06 handily, over the fast track.

This Oklahoma-bred filly by Code West, out of the Greenwood Lake mare Miss Hockaday was bred by Bryan Hawk of Shawnee, Okla. Her four-furlong work time of :48.06 was the swiftest of 46 horses that went the distance on Thursday at Remington Park.

The bloodlines of Miss Code Red suggest she should have some talent. Miss Hockaday won 11-of-50 starts for $261,878 earned, mostly for now-retired trainer Jearl “Ace” Hare and owner John Kester from Tulsa, Okla.

Night 7 of the Remington Park begins at 6:30pm-Central this evening with nine races scheduled.
