CLEVER TREVOR STAKES SET FOR OCTOBER 25 AT REMINGTON PARK
The $75,000 Clever Trevor Stakes is set for Friday, Oct. 25 at Remington Park, with a field of nine drawn this morning for the seven-furlong event.
The Clever Trevor Stakes, named after the first winner of the Oklahoma Derby (1989) and millionaire Oklahoma-bred, is the final local stakes prep for the $300,000 Springboard Mile on Dec. 13 on the season’s final night.
Jolly Samurai, the winner of the Kip Deville Stakes at Remington Park on Sept. 29, is the morning-line favorite at 3-1 odds for the Clever Trevor Stakes. Jolly Samurai is the only entrant in the Clever Trevor Stakes with two career victories.
Three Echoes, third-place finisher in the Kip Deville, is second in the morning-line odds at 7-2. Owned by L and N Racing of Tulsa, Okla. and trained by the sport’s all-time leading trainer, Steve Asmussen, Three Echoes broke his maiden at first-asking at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. in late May. The colt by Echo Town has made four consecutive stakes attempts since winning, all with third-place finishes, including the Grade 3, $175,000 Sanford Stakes at Saratoga in upstate New York in July. Keith Asmussen, one of the riding sons of the trainer, has been named to ride in the Clever Trevor Stakes.
