HOLLY DOLLY RUNS WINNING STREAK TO FOUR AT REMINGTON PARK, HERNANDEZ JUST TWO FROM 1,000

It’s not even November yet and already Holly Dolly is making a solid case for a championship trophy in the older filly or mare category, winning her fourth race in a row at Remington Park this meet.

The 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly by Brody’s Cause, out of the Arch mare Pinch Me, has won four consecutive races here, including the $50,000 Flashy Lady Stakes on Sept. 29. The other three were under allowance conditions, including Friday night’s open allowance event. Not only has she won those four starts, but she has won every one of them by daylight. Her first three wins of the meet were won by four lengths, 5-1/4 lengths and 5-1/2 lengths. Holly Dolly was just as impressive Friday night, pulling away with ease to gain another trip to the winner’s circle.

The filly is owned by Tom Durant of Grapevine, Texas; trained by Ray Ashford, and her regular rider, Iram Diego, was in the irons once again. She was bred by Kellie and Tim Holland and Ramon Rangel.

Holly Dolly was originally purchased for $120,000 by Woodford Thoroughbreds out of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale of 2021 and Durant picked her up for $250,000 when she was pin-hooked back into the Fasig-Tipton Mid-Atlantic 2-year-olds-in-training Sale of 2022. She earned $24,000 from the $38,800 purse On Friday night and improved her lifetime record to 10 starts, five wins and four seconds for $144,034 in earnings. She has won five-of-seven starts at Remington Park.

Holly Dolly, off at 1-5 odds, won by 2-1/2 furlongs and covered the six-furlongs distance in 1:11.01 over the fast track. She paid $2.40 to win and $2.10 to place. There was no show wagering as the field had scratched down to four horses. A pair of Steve Asmussen-trained horses finished second and third – Let’s Declare Peace (6-1) and Tx Women for Arts (5-2) – respectively.

HH at 998
Jockey Harry Hernandez has picked up his pursuit of 1,000 career wins in the United States, racking up a pair of wins on Friday night at Remington Park.

Hernandez won aboard Macy Red in race six, breaking the 3-year-old filly’s maiden status for a $10,000 claiming tag against fellow Oklahoma-breds. Owned and bred by Clark Brewster of Tulsa, Okla. and trained by Michael Biehler, Macy Red was the heavy 3-5 favorite and paid $3.40 to win. She provided Hernandez with number 997.

The 998th USA win for Hernandez came in the ninth race, an allowance at one mile over the turf for fillies and mares, three and older. Queen of Salsa handled her 1-2 status as the favorite for owner Keene Thoroughbreds of Greenville, Texas and trainer Ronnie Cravens III, paying $3 to win. It was the second straight triumph this season for Queen of Salsa, both with Hernandez up.

Saturday night, Hernandez has been named on four mounts. He will ride Riobella (6-1 morning-line odds) in race five, Wrinkle Road (3-1) in race six, Love Tank (5-2) in race eight and Fron the Heart (5-1) in race nine.

Hernandez, a native of Puerto Rico, moved to the USA in 2015.

Multiple Stakes Winner Logical Myth Works Bullet Friday
Multiple stakes-winning Logical Myth took the racetrack at Remington Park on Friday morning in preparation for his first start since Feb. 25.

The 8-year-old gelding, trained by Shawn Davis, made the most of the opportunity when clocker Cristina Soto caught him in 1:01.00 for five furlongs. That was the fastest time of the day for 16 horses that trained at five-eighths of a mile Friday morning.

A Kentucky-bred gelded son of Data Link, out of the Flatter mare Undo, is owned by George Sharp. Logical Myth is a three-time stakes winner in his career, all three of those trips to the winner’s circle over a turf course. He won two at Fair Grounds in New Orleans in back-to-back races on Dec. 19, 2020, and Jan. 16, 2021. Logical Myth checked in first in the $75,000 Buddy Diliberto Memorial Stakes in that December race and then followed up with a victory in the $125,000 Colonel E.R. Bradley Stakes in January. Both of those wins came at 1-1/16 miles in New Orleans. His third stakes win, also greensward, came at Mountaineer in West Virginia in the $75,000 West Virginia House of Delegates Speaker’s Cup Staks at one mile-70 yards on Aug. 7, 2021.

Logical Myth was bred by Glendalough and has a lifetime record of 45 starts, nine wins, nine seconds and six thirds for $531,161. His record at Remington Park is six starts, no wins, three seconds and two thirds. He ran second to U.S. Army, another Sharp-owned horse, in the $75,000 Jeffrey A. Hawk Memorial Stakes at Remington Park on Dec. 15, 2023, over a muddy main track.

Logical Myth last raced at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., on Feb. 25 under allowance conditions and finished third to millionaire Silver Prospector, a multiple winning allowance horse at Remington Park this fall.

Saturday night’s card at Remington Park is the 40th of the season. The nine races begin at 6:30pm-Central. Races five and nine are over the turf. The track is fast and the turf is firm.
