The then 3-year-old Kentucky-bred colt by Lion Heart, out of the Carson City mare Shine Forth, crushed them in the Super Derby by five lengths. He won that race for owner Bourbon Lane Stable and Wayne Lynn. Trainer Kellyn Gorder conditioned that colt.

Goncalves had to take off of his three mounts Thursday, Nov. 14 for a family emergency, but sent word through owners that everything turned out fine.
